When it comes to the job search, one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why Seen recently implemented several new free coaching services that address some of the most challenging parts of the job search, from asking for a promotion to transitioning into tech later in your career.

A holistic approach to tech career coaching

These new services allow our career coaches to offer a more comprehensive approach to the candidate journey. This holistic approach helps us understand where you are in your job search so we can provide catered advice and the best coaching possible.

Keep in mind that these free services can be requested in combination with one another to create a specialized coaching session personalized to your own experience. You’ll be able to request them after you sign up and are approved for Seen

Breaking into tech

Not all technical education programs are created equal. Many colleges and bootcamps don’t offer opportunities like internships or other needed career services that can help a fresh graduate jumpstart their technical career. What’s more, new grads and certificate holders often lack the experience that comes with the job search. By choosing our “breaking into tech” career coaching service, you’ll get a crash course on the basics of the job search and interviewing processes.

Our career coaches are here to equip you with the tools you need to navigate the job search and interview processes. Our coaches will work to help you understand the importance of finding a position that’s more than a paycheck, but one that is the right fit for you.

Career transition

Due to booming job opportunity and rising salaries, more people are transitioning into new tech roles every day. Shifting your career into tech from a non-technical position (or from another tech field like software engineering to product management) can take some guidance to avoid any missteps, and our career coaches are here to help guide you through it. 

When you make an appointment with one of our career coaches to discuss your career transition, you can expect to work with them to analyze your skill set, identify any gaps and how to fill them, and strategize effective ways to make the jump into a new role. Shifting your career from one tech field to another, such as software engineering to product management, may require you to learn new skills. Your coach will go over the many ways you can upskill, from online courses to bootcamps, as well as spend time exploring how to market yourself in a job interview when you lack the experience that much of your competition has.

Choose the “career transition” service if: You either work in a non-technical industry but are interested in pursuing a career in tech or are transitioning from one tech field into another adjacent tech field. 

Career advancement

You’re looking to advance your career, but negotiating a promotion can be tricky. Defining your professional goals and understanding the steps you need to take to make this happen is something our coaches can help you with. Note that this coaching service isn’t just for promotions, as we can help guide you through an internal transition to another team as well. 

During your phone call, you can look forward to one of our career coaches advising you on how to set yourself up for a promotion or internal transfer and effectively talk to management to make it happen, including how to appropriately update your resume, the best way to prep for an upcoming performance review and what to expect in your job interview.

Networking

Networking doesn’t always come easy, but it’s an important skill to have under your belt as it might be the key to you earning your next role.
