What’s your background? Career aspirations?
I graduated college about 3 years ago. I worked as a software engineer in the defense industry, and got to work on some really unique products. My goals are to never stop learning. I want to always be honing my technical skills, and continue to grow as an engineer.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I started looking for a new job because I wanted to transition into the faster paced tech industry. The slow pace of government related jobs was starting to feel limiting, as was the slower adoption of new technologies. I wanted to get back to the cutting edge. I started with a variety of approaches—applying directly to larger companies, reaching out to friends in the industry and searching through postings on Indeed. Seen seemed like an easy way to expand my search. I was already applying to other jobs on Indeed, so it was a really easy step.
How did Seen ease your job search?
It was nice having recruiters reach out to me. Not every company was a fit, but it exposed me to many opportunities that I wouldn’t have ever seen otherwise—including the job I ended up taking.
What excites you most about your new role?
I love the culture and people here at Pure Storage. They really encourage growth and learning, with lots of openness and ability to switch between roles.
Tips for fellow tech job seekers?
Keep at it. Apply more places, and make sure to study hard for the technical interviews. Most of those interview went back to concepts that I didn’t use regularly, so I really had to take time and treat it like I was taking a class.
