What’s your background? Career aspirations?
I’m a software engineer with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics. I’d worked professionally for 4 years prior to signing up for Seen. I was looking for a new local challenge that would advance my career while allowing me to create a real impact in the world. I want to continue to program while exploring leadership roles.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I was working from home at a job that wasn’t going to offer a lot of potential growth. I was ready to get into an office environment at a place where I could stretch my wings with support and new challenges. I think a lot of job seekers will agree that the most frustrating part is when you don’t hear anything back from a company. You send out resumes all day long and never even hear a rejection from at least 50% of the places you apply to. It’s demoralizing and draining. That’s why I was interested in Seen. The employers come straight to you. I was intrigued by the idea that I wouldn’t have to send out my resume over and over, and I honestly couldn’t believe it was free to job seekers. I figured this would be the perfect thing to try.
How did Seen ease your job search?
My job search picked up immediately. The first interview request I received was for the position with Indeed that I accepted. The job search became less of a game of numbers (sending out 10 resumes just to hope to hear back from 2) and more of a real question of “is this the right job for me?” It was really unbelievable. It was so much easier than all other job search methods. The ability to set when you would be available for interviews is really convenient. Helps avoid the awkward situations at your current place of employment.
What excites you most about your new role?
This job seems like everything I always wanted out of a role but never knew it existed. I get to work on rotating projects, so there’s always a new challenge. There’s a ton of room to grow and learn new things. The team I’m working with is great. Best of all, I truly believe Indeed is making a positive and lasting impact on the world, and I’m now a part of that.
Tips for fellow tech job seekers?
