What’s your background? Career aspirations?
Three years ago I graduated with a degree in physics and I was working as a real estate agent, which I was not enjoying. I decided try my hand at computer coding, so I went to a development boot camp course in New York. 2 months after I finished that, I had my first job as a web developer and my start in my new career.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I felt that I had gone as far as I could in my company so I started applying for new jobs. Seen was very helpful in that regard as they were able to get my resume out to companies that were very interested in my skill set.
How did Seen ease your job search?
Seen was very easy and intuitive for me to use. The best part about it was that it takes care of most of the work for you. I didn’t have to be actively searching for new positions every night because Indeed would just shoot my resume out to the companies that fit for me, which was great!
What excites you most about your new role?
I’m working with an awesome team now! It’s only been a few days, but I feel like I’ve known these people for years because we get along so well. It’s nice to be part of a group of developers who are kind, funny and helpful.
Tips for fellow tech job seekers?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. The best part of my job search was also the hardest part which was being rejected after the code challenges. Even though they felt devastating, it really focused my attention on my weaknesses and helped me improve enough to land my current position. Don’t give up!
