What’s your background? Career aspirations?
I got my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Engineering from CSULB and UCI respectively. At first I wanted to be a firmware engineer for an aerospace or consumer electronics company but grew to love the web development space. Now I would like to be a software architect within the next several years, owning a product, and making those decisions for the overall design of an application.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I wanted to join a team with more engineers that I can learn from since I’m still very early on in my career. Exploring new opportunities was an interesting experience, as sometimes you apply to places and never hear back or instantly get rejected without having the initial phone call. A lot of external/third-party recruiters were a little frustrating as they message you on LinkedIn for positions that aren’t even relevant to you. Seen made it easy by listing your experience/qualifications and just waiting for the right opportunity to pop up.
How did Seen ease your job search?
What made it unique was seeing the salary range and company before you even talk to anyone and being able to tell a recruiter that you’re interested or not interested. Also, providing your schedule to allow recruiters to pick dates and times for calls with you was interesting too.
What excites you most about your new role?
Being able to make a big impact on a growing team and learning from others that have been in the industry longer than I have.
Tips for fellow tech job seekers?
While you’re applying, make sure that you continue to do side learning for other technologies, but also really know the little details about everything on your resume. It’s better to specialize sometimes, especially when you have a focus for an industry/technology for career opportunities.
