What’s your background? Career aspirations?
I graduated from UCLA, became a high school math teacher, moved to San Francisco to attend App Academy boot camp, moved to San Jose to work at ACT for two years as a back-end engineer then finally arrived here at Retention Science as a Client Success Engineer.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I felt dissatisfied with teaching, so I wanted to change careers. I liked a few programming classes I took in college, and App Academy had a financial program that let me try it with little risk (pay tuition with the salary you get from your first job), so I went for it. I liked Seen because it moved a lot of the job searching work from me to the companies I want to work for, which was very convenient.
How did Seen ease your job search?
I had a few companies reach out to me, and it was very smooth to transition to interviews and move forward. Companies can also reach out to me on other platforms, but I felt that this platform was the most successful in moving forward to interviews, etc.
What excites you most about your new role?
I’m excited because the people I will be working with are really great. They are welcoming, willing to help and talkative.
Tips for fellow tech job seekers?
It takes time to find a job, so don’t give up just because it doesn’t work out with the first few companies you try to interview for.
