Why are you passionate about your field/role?
Having held every role in IT, I never lost my passion for developing. This was an opportunity to design/architect, code and mentor the younger or new developers. It was also a company with a great reputation, fantastic benefits and competitive salary.
What does “going further” mean to you in your career?
As an older techie, this has a different meaning because I’ve done everything, had every position and made great money. To me it means continuing to learn, meeting new people and using my skills and experience to help others.
What drove you to look for a new role?
Nothing sexy here, after spending 9 of 12 years working for or creating startups, I needed a regular paycheck. I have an 18 year old getting ready for college and I couldn’t keep throwing discretionary funds at companies who might not ever turn a profit.
How did Seen help in your job search?
I was “seen” by Accenture who was hired by Hawaiian Airlines to locate talent with my specific skills and experience. They used Seen to request an interview. I accepted. Within a couple of days I had a video interview with the boss. Based on that HA flew me out to Hawaii to meet the staff and get grilled for four hours. A week later they offered me the job.
What excites you about your new company/role?
I’m excited to work with a diverse group of people with a diverse group of skills. I’m also excited about the free travel benefits. The health benefits are nice because they pay 98%. That saves me personally $1800 per month. Seems exciting to me. Make money, save money, learn new skills, travel anywhere free.
