What’s your background? Career aspirations?
Starting college I never intended to go into software, but after a week of classes I was hooked. I loved creating something and solving a problem. I graduated and really wanted to get into a software development position but every job I had took me down more of a data engineering role.
What triggered your job search? What drew you to Seen?
I started looking for opportunities because I was tired of my current job of being a data engineer. I wasn’t passionate about it. I wanted to chase my passions and interests because I knew that would make me happiest at my job. What was difficult was finding good companies, positions, salary, and benefits. It seemed impossible and took hours at a time to filter through pages and pages of job postings just to find we don’t align on one aspect like pay or location. Seen seemed sent from the heavens. Companies are asking me to apply after all that criteria is already met. Now I can look at jobs that truly interested me.
How did Seen ease your job search?
It took all the weight and burden of finding a new job from me. I no longer needed to filter through the muck and only got what matched. It was almost like a dating service for jobs. Instead of doing all my custom filters on a typical search, companies were looking for me. It raises the likelihood of getting a good match because the company reaches out to you. The chance of finding out something that is a deal breaker is basically nullified. I was so surprised by this. I got many companies reaching out to me and all of them were good options. The hard part was now choosing between a couple of amazing opportunities! The contrast between sifting through hundreds and having the 3-10 perfect opportunities in front of me is huge. Also the career advisor they give you! Someone to talk to as you go through what is normally a stressful and scary prospect. Finding an amazing job opportunity has never been so easy or fun!
What excites you most about your new role?
That it aligns with everything that I want to do, the pay is good, and the company is great!
