The Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented engineering manager well versed in the design of complex systems to join an engineering organization that designs leading edge communications products. This individual will work in a team environment to manage the development of systems that require the design, implementation, and integration of embedded software solutions for radio and/or other communications products. This Engineering Manager will help develop creative solutions for our customer's problems. As a technical and team leader of the staff, the successful candidate will demonstrate initiative in the efficient development of complex systems throughout the product lifecycle.
Additionally, this person will be comfortable working with geographically distributed development teams. The successful candidate will be expected to possess a thorough understanding of technical challenges including both the development methods as well as enforcing organizational behaviors to ensure quality. Experience with embedded C/C++ software development expected. The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Management of the entire product implementation cycle including system/software requirements analysis, high level and detailed design, implementation, testing, integration, documentation.
Detailed understanding and knowledge of best practices for design processes, software/FPGA design, code development processes, release processes for simultaneous release of multiple devices.
Ability to manage and make trade-offs between product recurring cost, budget, schedule and technical solution.
Manage staffing allocations against defined engineering resource demands
Project planning, including cost, schedule, and resource estimates.
Functional management of a team of software engineers.
Effective interpersonal skills, ability to convey technical and business matters in a clear and logical manner.
Organization development to ensure engineering skill sets and resource capacity to meet organization demands.
Work collaboratively with test, manufacturing, logistics, product and program management and other groups, as well as, external customers as needed to define and execute product development projects and deliver high-quality radio products.
BS degree in engineering discipline with a minimum 12 years of relevant experience developing and/or managing software engineering solutions (or 10 years of experience with MS degree).
In depth knowledge of the Agile SW Development approach. Scrum Master experience required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
DoD Secret clearance / ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Experience with all phases of the software project development life cycle, including software and/or FPGA analysis, design, development, testing, and automation tools.
Experience with Capability Maturity Model (CMM)/Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) systems and software development processes.
Scrum Master certification desired.
