The candidate will be working on an online system that processes customer data for real-time ordering as well as a large billing system that runs daily billing batch jobs. In an interconnected mainframe environment they must be able to quickly determine both pro-actively and reactively when MQ issues occur, clearly identify the problem, and engage additional support as required. Additionally the candidate must be able to document and navigate a large MQ environment, provide recommendations for improvements, and be involved in application and infrastructure installations and reviews. They must work well under pressure, be able to log onto mainframe systems and use tools such as CMF monitoring, TMON monitoring tools. It's a bonus if the candidate is able to follow a COBOL or JAVA code path to assist or lead in debugging application issues.
This candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of experience with IBM MQ series, an application support mindset where they will provide rapid response to application events, be comfortable working with varying opinions, and be able to explain/fix/find issues through thorough data analysis. The candidate should be a critical thinker.
The candidate must have technical excellence in IBM MQ series, as well as be able to understand a variety of mainframe technologies, zOS, Db2 for z/OS, DDF, CICS, JCL, and a variety of tools and utilities.
The person must be open to being in an on-call rotation. They must also be a self initiated worker and be able to navigate an large workforce to find the correct information to complete the job.
- Incident Response for application errors caused by any of; application programming, poor access path, or system issues.
- Analysis of application performance/health
- Document and provide recommendations for a large MQ environment

- Monitor application health and MQ performance
- Support during Enterprise Releases and Application maintenance windows
- Critical thinking to improve processes and automate repetitive tasks
- Create and build tools to improve proactive issue identification
