Bankrate.com, a division of Red Ventures, is looking for a talented Senior Platform Engineer to join the team! The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), developing cloud native solutions, a strong focus on observability, deep understanding of network communications, knowledge of containerization strategies, and have excellent problem solving skills. This person will interact with people at all levels and with all teams across a geographically diverse company. Strong communication skills are a must along with having the ability to collaborate well with others. This individual will be responsible for promoting a collaborative and communicative culture as partners of Engineering product teams by providing enablement processes, automation, and tooling to improve productivity, mitigate risk, and achieve reliability at scale.
What You'll Do:
Develop tooling, standards, and practices enabling high quality continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
Maintain and contribute to our release management & host/container configuration across all environments.
Maintain and contribute to Infrastructure as Code configuration to promote self-service infrastructure provisioning.
Enable teams to monitor application and infrastructure performance through common modules, automation, tools, and standards.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement with our communication, tools, and processes.
Participate in an on-call rotation and assist engineering teams diagnose issues with emergencies, outages, and service transitions.
Partner with engineering teams to learn and improve through outage post mortems.
Identify and act upon opportunities for improvement and innovation.
What We're Looking For:
A minimum of three years of experience working with product development and operations teams in a DevOps, SRE, or a similar capacity.
Experience managing applications running on Linux host and containerized environments.
Experience administering software and server deployments in an open source ecosystem.
Skilled in AWS development, configuration, and deployment including VPC, EC2, S3, ECS, and scalable infrastructure.
Experience developing applications with Python, Node, and/or Go.
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Powershell, Go) with the ability to develop ad hoc tools.
Knowledge of DevOps best practices in an always-up, always-available environment.
Experience with source control management practices and tools, preferably with Git.
Experience with Agile methodologies and an iterative development cycle.
Detailed analytical and diagnostic skills is a must.
Configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
Continuous integration tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab etc.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
Experience with Edge networking and caching services is a plus.
Proficiency with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Proficiency with monitoring and analytics tools such as DataDog, New Relic, CloudWatch.
Network engineering concepts and protocols.
Deep understanding of service scalability and reliability.
