Stellar Science is a growing Albuquerque-based scientific software development company seeking a talented DevOps/IT engineer to help automate the deployment, maintenance, and cybersecurity protection of the development infrastructure we rely on to develop exciting scientific and engineering analysis applications. We maintain high standards in all our software development efforts, utilizing modern development practices including continuous integration, test-driven development, pair programming, and code reviews in order to develop high quality, maintainable, and reusable code. By employing a lightweight development process, we remain highly productive and responsive to changing customer needs.

The successful candidate will maintain and extend automated tools to deploy, configure, and secure Windows and Linux software development machines running software including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Redmine, LDAP, and Kerberos, as well as build clients running GCC, Clang, Visual Studio, CMake, and more. The candidate will need to be able to work closely with other members of the DevOps/IT team and software development team to engineer solutions that are maintainable, high-performance, and cost effective.

REQUIRED

The main requirements are that candidates be top-notch, responsible, self-motivated, honest, able to work well independently or in small teams, and be able to rapidly learn new protocols, processes, tools, and techniques as needed to meet mission requirements.

Degree in computer science, information technology, physics, math, engineering, or a related field
Experience with infrastructure-as-code automation systems such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or SaltStack
Ability to develop and maintain scripts written in Python, Ruby, Bash, and/or PowerShell
Strong experience with Windows and Linux (RHEL, Fedora, Ubuntu) administration
Experience with systems documentation creation and maintenance (wiki documentation)
Experience with revision control systems (Git, Subversion, etc.)
Familiarity with virtual machine management in VMware or Zen
Familiarity with Docker containers in both service and build-chain roles
Some experience with code development, debugging, and testing (C++ preferred)
U.S. citizen willing to undergo background investigation and perform some work at Kirtland Air Force Base

EXPERIENCE IN THESE AREAS IS A PLUS

Familiarity with directory services OpenLDAP and/or Microsoft Active Directory
Familiarity with industry standard two-factor authentication, authorization, and accounting systems
Good understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure
Able to manage IP networks with knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing
Linux+ certification
Security+ certification
MySQL experience
Visual Studio installation/configuration
Jenkins
CMake

HQ interview 9 am - 3 pm: interviewee gives a ~ 15 minute of something interesting (coding project usually) Q&A, 4 individual interviews about 40 minutes each with coding challenges (whiteboard or in IDE), lunch for everyone who wants to go, tour of the office, demo of a software tool, 1 hour interview with CEO.
