Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate performance test result for trouble areas and troubleshoot the findings
Identify bottlenecks in systems and troubleshoot
Act as a troubleshooting escalation point for more jr resources on the team
Review system configurations and compare to best practices to determine compliance
Evaluate Azure equipment offerings to determine how they impact performance of the Duck Creek product suite. Make recommendations based upon performance test results conducted.
Build cost models for production spec equipment that balances cost against performance
Automate performance test processes using scripting languages and 3rd party tools
Recommend automation practices to be followed based upon testing and industry experience
Identify areas of code where performance changes could be made to improve throughput
Make minor code changes in areas where performance can be improved with quick hit changes
Perform architecture reviews of code patterns to evaluate for poor performance
Devise and document performance tuning best practices
Advise customers, SI teams, and internal Duck Creek resources on tuning practices
Evaluate resource utilization patterns in cloud infrastructure to determine appropriate sizing for a given workload
Drive cost reductions by coordinating the implementation of system changes based upon best practice recommendations within the Duck Creek cloud business
Continue to further develop core performance test engineer skills, P&C industry acumen, functional knowledge, and technical details for one or more Duck Creek product and grow the knowledge and skills of others
Provide expertise in planning, constructing and executing performance test scripts and automation approach and drive quality in our solutions
Create performance test models for release testing (plans, data and scripts) including the identification, collection and/or creation of test data
Lead coordination and execution of release performance testing as appropriate
Demonstrate the ability to balance the growing scope and complexity of performance tests with the limited resources available to develop, maintain, and execute them
Determine and meet time estimates and schedules for testing efforts
Develop, update and maintain performance testing standards and procedures including manual and automated scripts, tools, and environments
Participate in and lead lessons learned as appropriate
Apply both business and functional knowledge, develop end to end performance testing strategies, using performance processes and methodologies and coach others across skill group
Mentor other performance testers on performance testing processes, application knowledge, and technical details of products
Coach others to create high quality performance test plans and high-level scenarios from non-functional requirements
Coach other team members and developers on performance test architecture, performance test coverage and how to create high quality performance tests
Assist developers in finding root cause of high and critical performance defects by identifying common manifestations the defect at the lowest load levels possible
Coach jr team members on effective root cause analysis
Support agile teams on unit performance test strategy, scope, and implementation
Participate in release testing efforts through performance script creation/execution, analysis of performance test results, updating scripts, reporting of defects, and developing final reports
Conduct peer reviews of performance test deliverables and provide feedback and coaching. Contribute by refining the standards driving improvements
Track and Report metrics for quality results and status reporting, lead trend analysis and implement action plan
Escalate as appropriate as resource challenges arise including suggesting risk mitigation plan
Assist with planning, creation, control, and maintenance of the performance test environments
Test release installation procedures in distributed environments and escalate defects as necessary
Participate in and lead Delivery Retrospectives as appropriate
Troubleshoot performance defects and attempt to remedy at the system level. Investigate the code level.

Software Development expertise and/or technical background
System engineering expertise in an IT environment

Strong Communicator. Contribute to ongoing improvement of communication efforts (e.g. lead major segment of sprint review, provide training to a moderate sized group, work with business architect or other stakeholders directly)
