Progeny is seeking a mid level electrical engineer to be part of the team responsible for the design, development, production, integration and life cycle support of embedded system electronics in Torpedo Systems Group (TSG) products used aboard Navy submarines, ships, and aircraft. The TSG designs, develops, demonstrates, produces, assembles, tests and delivers torpedo SONAR arrays and electronic assemblies. The TSG team works with the Navy, internal production staff and the representatives from other companies to advance torpedo performance and lower production costs.
Be part of a team comprised of design, system engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and production associates to develop embedded systems. Duties include:
Design, simulate and implement embedded systems
Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions
Document and present trade studies, analyses, test results, status, etc. to the team
Generate design and interface documentation
Design and develop software and firmware for embedded processor and FPGA based systems
Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify hardware & firmware
Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications
Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
have technical acumen, an educational background and expertise (experience preferred) in embedded systems design, development and troubleshooting
have experience in FPGA design, VHDL design and verification (Xilinx development environment, and soft-core processors, schematic entry using OrCAD Capture, analog signal conditioning, data acquisition, and power regulators a plus).
have strong documentation and writing skills;
be able to rapidly adapt to handling electronic system technical issues found in system integration labs, field environments and during production
be able to steadily develop knowledge/expertise across the various tactical baselines and platforms.
possess an understanding of systems and electronics troubleshooting skills.
have strong written and oral communication skills.
B.S. (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) required
2-5 years of engineering experience required
This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
