Job Description

Job Title: Head of Development & Machine-Learning

Department/Location: Development / London

Interview Date: 24thJune 2019

Start Date: July 2019

Reports to: CEO – Fraser Matcham

Hours of work: 37hr (min) pw

Employment Type: FTE

Salary Range: £60,000 - £75,000pa

Summary of Position:

This role is for an experienced machine-learning engineer (NLP) with a strong project management skillset and experience to manage the development team. The role will require you to work with and reporting directly to the CEO. The role will command a hard-working and skilled individual to deliver on end-to-end development and deployment of NLP algorithms, whilst managing both the data corpus and development team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supervision and management of the development team.
Quarterly development update reporting directly to the CEO.
Management of the ML dataset including storage, processing and corpus management.
Implementation of the ML modelling and subsequent deployment working with the mobile developer to ensure swift API integration.
Testing and assessment of third-party algorithms for integration and deployment for mobile and web-based applications, as well as data analysis reporting.
Strategic management of data.
Create, deploy and analyse data pipelines.
Development budget management.
Data and machine-learning strategy management.
Research ML NLP techniques and developments, implementing where appropriate.
Personal Specification:

Qualifications & Training

Degree in Computer Science (min 2:1)

Must be able to code in an array of languages including Python.

LLM or PhD in Computer Science or Data Science is desirable.

Experience

Supervising software projects is essential.

Traditional software development (not A.I. dependent) is essential.

Experience using AWS cloud to store, train and create models across a range of algorithms types.

Experienced working with Amazon Sagemaker.

Experience in Natural Language Processing (specifically, supervised learning), including a highly-proficient skill-set in python numerical/machine-learning libraries.

Agile knowledge of the evolving fields of natural language processing including the ability to work with third-party APIs for varying business requirements.

Excellent project management skills/experience in agile product development.

Ideally experienced in TensorFlow Google library for deep learning model creation.

Experience in neural networks development and deployment.

Experience working in a start-up/co-working environment.

Qualities and Attitude

Can-do attitude and pro-active attitude.

Committed to seeing projects through to completion.

Supportive, problem-solver willing to manage and oversee a small development start-up team.

Ability to work with and report to executives to ensure product and KPI delivery.

Product Knowledge

Must be competent to manage, implement and deliver on the end-to-end development of the machine-learning requirements of the business (including, storing and processing of data, corpus management, modelling and model deployment).

Competencies Summary:

Excellent python skills.
Skilled in python numerical/machine learning libraries (numpy, sklearn, scipy, matplotlib).
Experienced in the NLP setting. Specifically, in the supervised-learning setting.
Must be able to think outside the box and be able to identify any third-party API(s) that can be used in the NLP setting (like sentiment analysis).
Some key stages include: Data ingestion, model building, model selection, model deployment.
Must be able to produce clear and concise documentation and communicate results and findings.
