Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all quality and technical aspects of product manufacturing and process control within the production facility reporting to the Instrument Operations Manager. The position requires prior experience in well-established production environments working with multidiscipline (Mech., HW, SW, Optics, Etc.) products and be able to develop, implement, and improve standard manufacturing processes and controls as well as new product introduction processes.

This position requires strong knowledge and experience in an Electromechanical environment implementing manufacturing processes and standardization, and new product introduction

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following

Lead production organization in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Implementation with focus in electronic circuitry.
Assure Process and Product quality, including post-customer delivery, by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Working with Development Engineering develop a robust New Product Introduction process that will at minimum ensure product quality, manufacturability at product launch, and an efficient transition to manufacturing
Analyze assembly/test procedures and methods for process quality improvement
Provide leadership to production personnel in process improvement and good manufacturing practices
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
Prepare summaries of product build cycles, yields, defects and issues.
Plan and implement Kaizen projects, 5S, and other Lean Manufacturing principles to drive operational efficiency improvements
Develop and or evaluate manufacturing processes for design and improvement by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Working with Development Engineering develop a robust New Product Introduction process that will at minimum ensure product quality, manufacturability at product launch, and an efficient transition to manufacturing

Bachelor of College Degree in Electronic Engineering Required
Training and or Certification in 6Sigma/Lean Manufacturing preferred

3-5 years as a Manufacturing Engineer with strong Electronic Engineering and Troubleshooting Experience.
Strong Electronic design/testing/troubleshooting knowledge and experience
3-5 years as a Manufacturing Engineer with New Product Introduction process experience and ability to develop and implement NPI process controls.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate Electronic designs and components for introduction into manufacturing process
Proficiency in troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems
Experience in driving manufacturability in the design of processes and products
Ability to improve manufacturing team’s assembly and troubleshooting skills through training and coaching
Experience with optics and optical components
Proficiency with Solid Works, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio
Ability to generate, evaluate, and implement Engineering Change Orders
ISO 9001 certification
Strong person who can be a leader, coordinate activities across functional groups, proactive, self-starter
