The Release Management Engineer is an experimenter, builder, tinkerer, and curious thinker that will have significant influence on Release Management at Radisson. Specifically, this individual contributor will devise a framework and strategy for the organization to follow as it relates to packaging, deployment, and release. This role is part of a larger support organization and will influence overall schedules for product releases and deployment, tooling selection in the deployment space and may serve as part of an on-call Major Incident Management team. This is a globally focused role setting strategy across all Geographies that Radisson operates within.
Build the Global Release Management framework that all Development teams will follow for planning the release of their products. This responsibility will include releasing across Lower Lifecycle Environments as well as Production environments.
Collaborate, influence, and lead discussions with multiple engineering teams of FTEs and vendor/contracting partners to standardize and automate build and release processes
Contribute to tools/release engineering from the inception phase through implementation of tooling sets to solve technical requirements and ultimately accelerate the productivity and velocity of Product Development teams.
Live and evangelize best practices for source control, build engineering and Continuous integration and deployment.
Provide Technical expertise and oversight in the Devops & Site Reliability Engineering process.
Participate in an on-call rotation and work in a fast-paced rapidly evolving business critical environment.
Build, own and provide ongoing management for a centralized Enterprise Level release calendar for major releases across all Development Environments to ensure adherence to change freezes and large deployments are not happening at the same time.
Ultimately, will help guide the organization to a light-weight continuous integration/deployment model where changes are deployed on a continual basis without risk of significant impact to a given environment. Will need to be a shepherd of continuous integration/deployment and Devops/Site Reliability Engineering.
Experience building a Release Management discipline including selection of packaging and deployment tooling, building of a release calendar, and overcoming significant institutional process of Waterfall deployments.
Software Development experience specifically experience with one or more scripting languages would be preferable. Preference Python or another modern scripting language.
4 to 6 years’ experience across Release Engineering, Build/Tooling Engineering supporting Development teams, and/or QA
Hands on experience with Jenkins and other CI/CD Pipeline tools
Experience with GitHub Cloud, GitHub Server, or another version control software.
Mastery of the build/release process, including CI/CD pipelines and tooling associated with CI/CD.
Experience with build automation tooling for Mobile platforms would be preferable.
Experience with Salesforce & SAP is desirable.
Experience in participating in on-call rotations supporting Major Incident Management is would also be extremely helpful.
