An exciting new opportunity has opened for a Cloud Data Engineer, to be a key member of a new Enterprise Cloud Computing (ECC) Cloud Data Analytics team.
This new team will be responsible for sourcing, collating & aggregating, and reporting enterprise level Cloud metrics and KPI’s. The role offers the candidate the opportunity to shape how Cloud utilization, adoption, governance, performance and finance metrics can be intercepted, automated and distributed to senior leadership and business partners.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
5+ year’s experience with data extraction, data cleansing, and storage (relational and unstructured data sources)
4+ year’s experience programming with languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java or C++
2+ years of scripting in Bash, Perl or Python
2+ years of dipping into JSON, XML or related notational data representations
Hands-on experience with APIs, RESTful services (and if possible, integration with Cloud data providers)
Any hands-on experience with Cloud service providers AWS / Azure would be very beneficial (in particular Redshift, S3, Kinesis and DynamoDB)
Any familiarity with Cloud related tools (eg. DataDog, Cloudability, Athena, etc.) and ingestion tools (Glue, Apache Sqoop) would be very beneficial
Competent in Linux systems and / or server configuration management
Proven experience with integrating disparate data systems (internal and external)
Proven experience with thoughtful and quality technical code solutions
The Purpose of Your Role
The successful candidate will be a member of the Cloud Data Analytics team under the umbrella of the ECC organization. An important aspect of this particular role will be the creation of solutions that can intercept varied internal & external systems that generate unstructured and relational data (AWS, Azure, SNOW, DataDog, Concourse, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, DynaTrace, Cloudability, etc.) leveraging API calls.
Apart from being comfortable writing quality code that can leverage API calls, another important facet of the role will be the attention to mapping data flows and spotting numerical data patterns. As an increasing number of Cloud and non-Cloud systems are integrated to extract underlying metrics data for KPI reporting, the candidate must have a keen ability for quickly sorting the wheat from the chaff.
As this role is a key ingredient in ‘making Cloud metrics possible’ having the ability to appreciate & understand the visual aspects of the data is important, and the end-user experience. As such the candidate may also dip into the reporting tools (Tableau, etc.) to help with the validation of current and of proof-of-concept metrics, KPI’s and reports.
The Skills You Bring

The Value You Deliver
Being a member of a diverse, global, agile team that collaborates with ECC product owners & business partners, to create innovative operational automation and preventative solutions
Paving the way for a Cloud Data Analytics roadmap that focuses on innovative push / subscriber based reporting solutions, that help enable effective enterprise decision making
