Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Radar Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in our Manned Aircraft Design COE on the Electronics & Payloads team in Melbourne, FL

The responsibilities of this Senior Principal Radar Engineer position would include design, development, integration, and test of airborne radar systems equipment for development, production and fleet/sustainment programs.

Essential Functions:
As a lead, the candidate will perform system/subsystem requirements analysis/definition/allocation (including trade studies), subsystem design and architecture development, subsystem/hardware acquisition and supplier management, subsystem/hardware test and verification, and system/subsystem integration test
The candidate will be responsible for managing supplier activities, including development/execution of new subsystem development and subsystem obsolescence redesign efforts and coordination of upgrades and retrofits, performing review and analysis of supplier design data, definition/execution of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution
Perform informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshooting radar hardware in the lab and participation in flight test activities and post flight data analysis, along with resolution of flight test anomalies
The candidate will perform tasking as the E&P lead on a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT); executing tasking to meet customer program/project requirements with responsibility, accountability and authority for that product throughout its life cycle.
Candidates with experience with modeling using MATLAB or similar software tool, test, and analysis at the system level and component level will be best prepared to perform this role
Candidates with experience with technical management of radar suppliers will be best prepared to perform this role

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of electronics engineering experience or a Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of electronics engineering experience or a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of electronics engineering experience
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with development/integration of airborne radar equipment
Familiarity with radar antennas, RF hardware, signal processing, or tracker design
Experience in UHF radar design/development
Bachelor’s or Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
