System Administrator Job Description:

Provides technical and operational support for the operation and administration of the site and lab computing infrastructure including: switches, routers, databases, thin-clients and domain servers. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties include: setting up administrator and service accounts, performing/scheduling backups, installing system wide software, allocating mass storage space, configuration management and documentation services, system patching, network and system monitoring, troubleshooting and repair, tech refresh and upgrades, and maintaining, configuring and updating baseline configurations as per RMF/DFARS requirements.

Interacts with system users, evaluates vendor products, makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

System Administrator Required Skills:
• Able to support and maintain a lab environment including maintenance and upkeep of hardware and the installation and/or upgrading of system software
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results, help shape the future, build effective relationships, energize the team and be a model personal excellence, integrity and accountability
• Able to work under general supervision and communicate clearly with both peers and superiors
• Able to plan and follow schedules with little oversight or direction
• Effectively communicate both orally and in written form, possess excellent organizational and reporting abilities
• Be team oriented, energetic, and possess a friendly personality

System Administrator Desired Skills:
• Experience troubleshooting and/or configuring Linux servers to include scripting
• Red Hat Linux Administration \ Configuration (RHCSA certification a plus)
• Experience with the administration and configuration of security policies as related to both Windows and Linux servers (CISSP certification a plus)
• Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• Familiarity with configuring VMs (Virtualization)
• Networking knowledge (CCNA \ CCNP certification a plus)

Additional Requirements for System Administrator:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
• Willingness to work overtime and off shift when dictated to support business needs
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance
Contract Term: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week.
