Vine Health

Tech Lead (Full-Stack/Backend)

Software Developer in London, ENG

Posted 2019-08-19

We’re looking for an experienced (4yrs+) engineer to lead the building and management of our tech stack (particularly the python backend) and leave a lasting impact on global healthcare.

Vine Health is a digital platform that uses a combination of behavioural science and artificial intelligence to improve the quality of life and survival of cancer patients.

You will be a senior member of the engineering team. Your job is to initially help us move from our private beta product into full market launch later this year. After that it’s scaling out the product for production. It’s a small team and we all need to help each other out so there will be some exposure to the full stack. Currently the mobile app is written in react-native (Javascript) and the backend is written in Python (Flask) with a Postgres DB. The backend is deployed on AWS. It is entirely serverless - we use Fargate, Aurora and Lambda. Our infrastructure is (almost) fully specified in code with Pulumi. We are working in a space where data security is really important so experience working in a regulated environment is a bonus.

We're a young company, so you'll need to get your hands dirty and no two weeks will be the same. The ability to cope with uncertainty and rapid change is crucial.

We're looking for someone to be a real part of the team. You spend a lot of time with the people you work with, so we want it to be fun and rewarding rather than feel like a chore. That means having a passion for what we're doing, wanting to make a real difference to people's lives, having interests outside of work, sharing knowledge with your colleagues, and adding to our company culture.

You’ll have been writing production Python for some time now, and understand its ins and outs. You’ll have written a number of REST apis in Flask or Django. You will also have been deep into the data tier and will be comfortable with web system architecture and design. You will also have had some devops experience, ideally maintaining a continuous delivery pipeline and deploying to AWS. You will play a key role in shaping our tech stack.
