Building a technology-powered organization is essential to our success. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to manage our infrastructure and DevOps team. We use AWS extensively with our major applications written with a React Frontend and Rails or Java on the backend. We are in the process of migrating towards a micro services architecture on AWS Lambda.
Guide a DevOps team to plan, deploy and maintain critical business applications prod/non-prod AWS environments.
Guide the design and implementation of appropriate environments for prod/non-prod applications, including configuration management, environment orchestration, and release management procedures.
Influence other teams and the broader Engineering groups in adopting Cloud technologies, processes, and best practices.
Ensure team discipline of documentation for deployment and support.
Ensure continual creation of training materials for operational staff on application features and basic troubleshooting.
Serve as an escalation point to internal teams to help identify and resolve complex, software-based issues involving multiple systems.
Mentor and enhance the skill set of DevOps team members including developers, product owners, release managers and QA.
Required Skills & Experience
Three years of experience leading with Agile Development Practices, preferably in a Cloud-based environment.
Five plus years of software development and configuration experience with a solid understanding of software architecture.
Expertise in implementing scalable, distributed, and highly available systems on AWS services such as: Compute (EC2, Fargate, Lambda), data storage (S3, RDS PostgreSQL/Aurora, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch), caching (ElastiCache, Redis and Memcached), messaging (SQS and SNS), and monitoring (CloudWatch).
Three years of experience in DevOps and automation using CI/CD tools and processes (such as Jenkins, SaltStack, Ansible, Terraform, GIT/Subversion).
Ability to understand goals, strategies, and needs of the business to capture into development requirements.
Ability to be a self-starter and lead a team to be self-starters.
Flexibility to assist with after-hours support when needed.
