The User Interface Engineer is responsible for creating a great client experience on the web. This team member develops, improves and maintains innovative software applications driven by user feedback to improve team member experience. These responsibilities will require the User Interface Engineer to take a lead role in application design, perform code reviews, assist with delivery estimates and provide feedback about all aspects of the process.
Develop new user-facing features
Work with the team to develop a new web-based financial application with cloud scalability, high performance and tight security requirements
Build a scalable and secure web application, including modular, reusable components and features; optimize the application for maximum performance, scalability and tight security
Embrace emerging standards and promote best practices
Focus on user-centered design, working very closely with the UI/UX team to ensure technical feasibility and providing input into their iterative designs
Actively engage in UI/UX research to empathize with our users and drive user-centered design decisions
Be part of a high-performing team, collaborating daily with a small, nimble team of product owners, engineers and UX designers to understand business requirements
3 years of software engineering experience
Demonstrated experience building and shipping production software
Expert knowledge of best practices with regard to HTML5 and CSS
Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates and AJAX
Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
Experience with responsive design techniques
Basic experience with, or the ability to learn, image authoring tools to be able to crop, resize or perform small adjustments on an image
Proficient understanding of web security and data validation
