Performs responsible work on Windows and Windows support systems (i.e. Cisco hardware and VMware software) to ensure efficient and reliable operation. Sets up and maintains all systems.


Provide Microsoft Windows Server operating system support.
Monitor server performance and availability.
Ensure Windows server availability compliance to Service Level Agreements.
Address operational systems issues including file and share permissions, user accounts and installing applications.
Promote and maintain server patch management practices.
Liaise with vendors, suppliers and professional services.
Provide metrics for capacity management purposes.
Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues.
Apply operating system updates, patches and configuration changes.
Support and maintain Active Directory.
Support and configuration of Group policy.
Provide Windows Exchange Email Server Support.
Perform software and hardware firmware upgrades.
Participate in disaster recovery testing.
Assists in research of new technology.
Install/setup/configure virtual infrastructure (i.e. Cisco hardware and VMware software) for use by Windows systems and the UNIX Team.
Administers NT local area network and all e-mail accounts.
Remains available around the clock to assist in resolution of windows software and hardware related issues.
Willing and able to provide 2nd Tier support to the Help Desk Team.
Assists as needed in the setup of all software installations.
Manages contractors within the information technology section.
Attends meetings with contractors related to toll industry and technology.
Assists in the development and review of training materials and details design documentation.
Assists in developing disaster recovery procedures.
AssIsts in performing interviews and hiring of IS personnel.
Represents the agency at technology related functions.
Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of Windows systems architecture, fiber optic technology, network systems integration, project scheduling and cost analysis relating to networks.
Knowledge of PC related software including but not limited to various operating systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair various hardware components including but not limited to servers and workstations.
Knowledge of research and troubleshooting techniques and applications.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments for contractors.
Ability to select and provide appropriate information to others.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to manage and supervise a department of information technology contract professionals.
Ability to easily learn and adapt to changing environment including but not limited to new hardware, and software.
A good understanding of how the Windows systems connect to and interact with the other systems in the environment, such as Networking, Unix/Linux, Databases, etc.

The position is physically comfortable. The individual has discretion concerning sitting, standing, etc. in an office environment. Occasional visits to plaza locations, tag stores, etc. requires good mobility. Occasional lifting or assisting in lifting heavy parts/equipment up to 50 lbs.


A two-year certification or degree in a computer related field and two years of professional experience in network systems including but not limited to design, management and integration of network applications.
Professional or nonprofessional experience or certifications as described above can be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the required college education.
Typing and computer skills required.
